Cleaning Out the House

This past couple of weeks have been quite hectic. The girls and I have been sick. I even had a second round of it. Keith has somehow managed to avoid it (so far). Besides not feeling too well, we have been doing our spring cleaning. That doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but in between going from closet to closet, cabinets, etc., you make lots of discoveries.

Yes, a lot of it is just stuff that you don't use, maybe have grown out of (half of Mallory's closet), or clothes that you have shrunk out of, but there were a lot of memories that we ran across. Pictures from my late teen years, Keith's time spent in the Air Force, our early years of marriage, and then the girls' early years of life. So in with the time that was spent clearing out the clutter, it was fun reminiscing about the good old days.

We took time out, on Saturday, from 7:30 am - 1:30 pm to have a garage sale. We didn't know it but we were one of two garage sales in the whole town (the people in this part of East Texas LOVE garage sales). The weather was beautiful, and we had an unbelievable turn out! We had planned on shutting down by noon, but they just kept coming. How can you turn away money for junk that you no longer want or need? We sold around 80% of our stuff! There was only one box that we had to pack up and take to Goodwill. Ahhh, it feels so much better to walk into closets and see them cleaned out!

While going through the house and cleaning out our "junk," the Lord reminded me of how we need to go through our spiritual "closets" from time to time, cleaning out the "junk" that we sometimes allow into our lives. Hebrews 12:1 - "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."

Sometimes these "little" things may not seem like much, but I don't want anything to stop the flow of God through me. I don't want this temple of the Holy Ghost to get clogged up to where His Spirit cannot flow through this vessel for His glory. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be a hindrance to the revival that is coming to His church in these last days.
